About Global Relief Outreach
Global Relief Outreach (GRO) is a club at Miramonte High School. Its purpose is to spread global awareness of events occurring in other countries as well as provide aid and relief to help those countries. In the past, we have participated in global awareness days, such as Aids Day, where we passed out red ribbons to the student body. We have also provided over $1000 in relief funds to help the genocide in Darfur. In 2007 we shipped over 2000 children books to a library in Kenya to help children there become more literate in English. We have also raised over $3000 for UNICF, Invisible Children, and the Center for Youth Integration- an orphanage for trafficked children in Belgrade Serbia.
Our members attend leadership and action conferences hosted by the non-profit organization, New Global Citizens, as well as other community events where they learn about global situations and what they can do to help.
Interest in joining and becoming a member? Come to our club meetings every Wednesday in Room 442.
